Recently, Amy Hinzmann, president of Cimplifi, sat down to chat with Stefan Jellinek, head of contract analytics. Like Kristen and Danielle, Stefan is one of the newer Cimplifi team members, joining us one year ago “from across the pond.” In his newly expanded role, Stefan leads the analytics side of the CALM™ (contract analytics and lifecycle management) business where he manages delivery teams and analytics-focused projects deploying DocuSign Insight. We hope you enjoy learning more about Stefan and seeing what makes the employee experience at Cimplifi special to him.

Amy: Hello Stefan! So lovely to speak with you today. I know you live in London, but where did you grow up?
Stefan: I grew up in Sheffield, South Yorkshire UK, and studied at Newcastle University before coming to London.

A: And what brought you to Cimplifi?
S: I joined for the opportunity to build the CALM business with Charles Post from the ground up in a company that understood the gap in the market and was also committed to the growth and investment in this business.

A: The CALM team has done just that! Speaking of, who or what inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
S: I saw how automation via technology is rapidly changing the working world, so I wanted to specialize in an area synonymous with that.  With my legal educational background, contract analytics through AI seemed the right space for me.

A: Tech adoption is vital to any business these days, and it seems you had great foresight when thinking about your career. What have you found is the most unique part about working at Cimplifi?
S: I would have to say it is the leadership. I am getting the opportunity to work with leaders from multiple industries with successful careers and who have worked with some of the most prestigious companies generally featured in the S&P 500.

A: We have a great group of all-stars on our team! Given the opportunity to work with various leaders, how have you been able to grow professionally while at Cimplifi?
S: I am developing a more intimate knowledge of what it takes to grow a business outside of delivery and sales calls. I’ve seen our CALM practice grow and expand from launch to client implementations and I have been able to participate and contribute to that growth and that’s been really fulfilling.

A: That is wonderful to hear; I love that you are getting the full spectrum experience. Tell me who are some of your biggest inspirations within the company?
S: My colleagues, Charles Post, Veronica Lee, and I worked together previously, and I owe a lot to both of them in terms of helping guide my career to this point. Both had a direct impact on me and from watching how they conduct themselves and trying to emulate their processes. Steve Harber, our executive chairman is another big inspiration to me. Learning from his success has been invaluable because he has built multiple businesses from the ground up in both the eDiscovery and contract analytics sectors.

A: Tell me the three words to best describe you.
S: Motivated, empathetic, passionate.

A: What is your secret talent no one knows about?
S: I am training in boxing and looking to do my first amateur fight next year.

A: Wow, that is incredible! Good luck! With that, how do you balance your career and personal life?
S: Given the time difference between the UK and US, it is difficult during the week, but I try to work out in the morning before I sit down at the computer, and then I make the most of my weekends to decompress and enjoy life.

A: Exercise is what helps me balance too. What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
S: Being the best at what I do and being able to deliver solutions to clients who are truly happy with the outcome.

A: And where do you see yourself in five years?
S: Leading a cross-national team of CALM consultants and selling solutions with Cimplifi as a globally recognized leader in contract analytics and lifecycle management.

A: Now that is the kind of foresight I’m interested in!
